About the roles
皇冠体育app United Kingdom has been invited to nominate experts to聽participate in 2 upcoming, co-located, IPCC workshops:

- workshop on methods of assessment
皇冠体育appse three-day workshops聽are聽to be held in the first quarter of 2026 at a venue yet to be determined.
皇冠体育app IPCC Focal Point, who is in the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero, is responsible for nominating experts. Participants to the workshops will then be selected by the IPCC Chair, with advice from the IPCC鈥檚 Scientific Steering Committee.
皇冠体育app scope of the workshops is聽to consider:聽

- the extent to which such means of synthesis and assessment may be conducted by the IPCC itself or by the knowledge holders and research communities who generate the literature on which the IPCC relies (workshops 1 and 2)
皇冠体育app specific aims of each workshop as well as the expertise sought after from participants are presented in 鈥楢nnex I and II鈥. 皇冠体育app full description of the workshops, as agreed by the IPCC Panel, is available on the聽.
Individuals participating in either workshop will be selected following consideration of:

About the IPCC
皇冠体育app IPCC is a scientific body of the United Nations that draws on the expertise of thousands of scientists from around the world to assess the science of climate change. 皇冠体育app IPCC provides policy makers with regular scientific assessments on climate change, its implications and potential future risks, as well as options for adaptation and mitigation. IPCC reports are relevant to policy, but they are policy neutral and not prescriptive.
IPCC assessments are highly influential. 皇冠体育appy informed the creation of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), drove the Paris Agreement鈥檚 long-term temperature goal to limit global temperature rise to well-below 2掳C and pursue efforts to limit the increase to 1.5掳C, and underpinned the agreement of the Glasgow Climate Pact. 皇冠体育app 2018 IPCC Special Report on Global Warming of 1.5掳C was also a major influence on the and led to the adoption of net zero targets in over 145 countries around the world.
IPCC Assessment Reports are released on a roughly 5 to 7 year cycle. 皇冠体育app Sixth Assessment cycle concluded in 2023 with the publication of the sixth Synthesis Report. 皇冠体育app Seventh Assessment cycle began in January 2024 and is expected to run until 2029.
