皇冠体育app Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) is a scientific body of the United Nations that draws on the expertise of scientists from around the world to assess the science of climate change. It provides policy makers with:

  • regular scientific assessments on climate change, its implications and potential future risks
  • options for adaptation and mitigation
  • assessments and reports which are relevant to policy, politically neutral, not prescriptive, highly influential

皇冠体育app assessments have:

  • informed the creation of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC)
  • drove the Paris Agreement鈥檚 long-term temperature goal to limit global temperature rise to well-below 2掳C and pursue efforts to limit the increase to 1.5掳C
  • underpinned the agreement of the聽Glasgow Climate Pact

皇冠体育app 2018聽IPCC聽Special Report on Global Warming of 1.5掳C was also a major influence on the聽聽and led to the adoption of net zero targets in over 145 countries around the world.

IPCC聽Assessment Reports are released on a roughly 5 to 7 year cycle. 皇冠体育app Sixth Assessment cycle concluded in 2023 with the publication of the sixth Synthesis Report. 皇冠体育app Seventh Assessment cycle began in January 2024 and is expected to run until 2029.
