Abstract

This Final Report presents the findings of the project 鈥楨nhancing understanding on safe motorcycle and three-wheeler use for rural transport and the implications for appropriate training and regulatory frameworks鈥�. 皇冠体育app project was carried out in Ghana, Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda between September 2017 and January 2019. 皇冠体育app study has revealed that motorcycle taxis are very important for rural travel, and are very popular among rural communities. 皇冠体育appy are especially important for health-related trips and also provide economic benefits, creating business opportunities, providing employment and supporting agriculture. 皇冠体育app results of the study can be used by governments and other key stakeholders to better understand the issues related to motorcycle taxis in rural areas and to develop policy and practice to maximise their benefits and minimise their disbenefits.

This work is part of the Applied Research on Rural Roads and Transport Services through Community Access Programmes in Africa and Asia (AFCAP2 and AsCAP)
