This document sets out the Department for Transport (DfT) 2024 forecasts for freight traffic at UK ports between 2024 and 2050.

皇冠体育appse forecasts aim to inform long-term strategic thinking for the UK ports sector, including in the context of the National Policy Statement for Ports (NPSP). 皇冠体育app NPSP highlights the importance of the ports sector to the UK economy.

皇冠体育app port traffic forecast model looks at 14 cargo categories and matches those used in port freight statistics. 皇冠体育appy can be grouped into 4 broad types of transportation:

  • unitised freight
  • liquid bulk
  • dry bulk
  • general cargo

皇冠体育app forecasts are given at a national level and are based on freight traffic data passing through major UK ports only. 皇冠体育appy replace the previous set of UK port freight traffic forecasts, published in 2019.
