»Ê¹ÚÌåÓýapp Regulatory Policy Committee (RPC) provides independent scrutiny of the impact assessments accompanying new regulatory and deregulatory proposals. »Ê¹ÚÌåÓýapp RPC has been appointed as the independent verification body in respect of the business impact target (BIT) for the current parliament.

»Ê¹ÚÌåÓýapp Government are required by the Small Business, Enterprise and Employment Act 2015 to set a BIT for each parliament and to report annually on progress against the BIT. »Ê¹ÚÌåÓýapp Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy published the Government’s report covering the first BIT reporting year (2017/18) of the current parliament on 19 July 2018.

»Ê¹ÚÌåÓýapp RPC report is in two main parts. »Ê¹ÚÌåÓýapp first provides an overview of the impact of departmental and regulator measures qualifying against the BIT and of significant departmental non-qualifying measures implemented during this period. »Ê¹ÚÌåÓýapp second provides a review of the quality of impact assessments and post-implementation reviews, with particular reference to impacts on wider society, small and micro businesses and consideration of options, including non-regulatory options.
