As part of its road fuel market study, the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) recommended the introduction of a new statutory monitoring body to hold the industry to account. 皇冠体育app government accepted the recommendations and indicated it will consult on the legislation in autumn 2023.聽

Until the legislation and the permanent monitoring function is in place, the UK government asked the CMA to monitor developments in the market, on a temporary basis, using our existing powers.聽

We will publish road fuel monitoring update reports approximately every four months. 皇冠体育app updates will set out what we have observed in our interim monitoring role, based on market data going beyond the periods we considered in our market study.

• average pump prices, and their components including retail spread

• fuel margins

• relative average pump prices between different types of retailer, and between each of the supermarkets

Please note, as we are using existing powers, we are reliant on the cooperation of fuel retailers to provide relevant information on a voluntary basis. 皇冠体育apprefore, there may be some gaps in the analysis of our update reports. It also highlights the need for the introduction of the permanent function as soon as possible.
