皇冠体育app Department for Science, Innovation and Technology (the department) received the following request for information which we responded to under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FOIA):
On 19 September the AI Safety Institute announced an AI Safety conference to be held in San Francisco on 21 to 22 November by invitation only. Please publish:
皇冠体育app criteria by which invitees were selected.
皇冠体育app extent to which public funds will be used to support invitees travel and associated expenses.
皇冠体育app budget allocated for AISI and participants鈥� involvement in this event.
皇冠体育app names of those invited and/or the organisations they will represent.
皇冠体育app arrangements for those not already invited to request the opportunity to participate and/or to make submissions.

We can confirm that the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology hold the requested information.
Question 1: 皇冠体育app criteria by which invitees were selected.
皇冠体育app primary target audience consists of signatory companies to the Frontier AI Safety Commitments and specifically, employees in the signatory companies working on the implementation of the frontier AI safety commitments, including those with a technical background. 皇冠体育app secondary audience consists of researchers specialising in areas related to those commitments, such as experts in risk modelling.
Question 2: 皇冠体育app extent to which public funds will be used to support invitees鈥� travel and associated expenses.
Attendees are expected to cover their own expenses. Where this would not be possible, for example where individual researchers would be unable to attend without support for travel, the department will consider whether supporting travel and potentially accommodation costs would be appropriate on a case by case basis. We expect this to be a small number; attendees working for private companies would not be eligible.
Question 3: 皇冠体育app budget allocated for AISI and participants鈥� involvement in this event.
皇冠体育app exact AISI attendees have not yet been confirmed, but we intend to keep numbers of AISI attendees low. 皇冠体育app final budget for AISI attendance at the event has therefore not been determined.
Question 4: 皇冠体育app names of those invited and/or the organisations they will represent.
We are unable to disclose the names of individual invitees, as this information is exempt from disclosure under the Freedom of Information Act, Part II, section 40(2), as this constitutes personal data.
Question 5: 皇冠体育app arrangements for those not already invited to request the opportunity to participate and/or to make submissions.
Expressions of interest in participating and/or making submissions will be directed to [email protected]. All expressions of interest will be evaluated based on the criteria outlined in response to question 1. While we cannot guarantee participation for all interested parties due to space and resource constraints, we will consider all requests in line with the conference鈥檚 objectives.
