Apply to become an AI Factory Antenna: clarification questions (updated 9 June 2025)

Updated 9 June 2025

Can you clarify whether 鈥榓 public research organisation鈥 includes Universities please? (added 9 June 2025)

Answer: Yes it does 鈥 we are using which includes Higher Education providers.

How will the matched funding work work, noting that the EOI requests costs in GBP, but the EuroHPC funding is in EUR. Is there a set exchange rate that DSIT will use? How will currency fluctuations be mitigated? What is the maximum total budget in GBP? (added 9 June 2025)

Answer:If the proposal is successful, EuroHPC will match fund up to 鈧5 million over 3 years. 皇冠体育app maximum contribution that the UK government is able to provide is 拢2.5 million over 3 years. We understand that any funding contributed by the hosting entity will also be eligible to be matched (so long as the EU contribution does not surpass 鈧5 million).

What evidence is required for EC and UK audit compliance for the in kind contribution as the clarification currently posted does not make this sufficiently clear? (added 9 June 2025)

Answer:皇冠体育app EuroHPC Joint Undertaking governing board will make the decision on match funding. EuroHPC鈥檚 call states that in-kind contributions could be provided towards the operation of the chosen AI Factory, however, we will need to check with the Joint Undertaking whether in-kind contributions are eligible to be match funded.

皇冠体育app EOI question on financial and in-kind resources that the host entity may be able to contribute is aimed at understanding how the host entity may contribute to the AI Factory to ensure access, and the resources the host entity can put in place to ensure the Antenna functions effectively in serving UK stakeholders and users. We recommend discussing with the linked AI Factory how contributions (including any in-kind) can help gain greater access to their system.

Would the coordinator be awarded the EuroHPC and DSIT funding with legal responsibility to disburse to partners (who request grant contribution) who will be financially and legally responsible through an EC Grant Agreement (and consortium agreement) for their costs claimed and EuroHPC and UK contribution awarded? (added 9 June 2025)

Answer:Yes, our expectation is that funding will be transferred to the lead hosting entity who will hold financial and legal liability for the group.

Can an entity coordinate one proposal and be a partner in another consortium聽(added 4 June 2025)

Answer: Yes, it is possible for one site to coordinate their own proposal and participate in another consortium.聽

皇冠体育app EoI site mentions 鈥溁使谔逵齛pp research organisation or consortia of organisations may also contribute up to approximately. 拢1.8 million of their own resource, to be match funded by the EuroHPC granting authority.鈥 Are there any constraints on what we are allowed to include within our own contributions? It鈥檇 be useful to know what evidence of in-kind financial contributions will be required.聽(added 4 June 2025)
