Natasha Chick

Biography

Natasha Chick is the Enforcement, Business and International Director at the Intellectual Property Office (IPO). She has over two decades of experience in the civil service, specialising in intellectual property, economic policy, and public service transformation.

Natasha began her career as a patent examiner before moving into senior policy and operational leadership roles across patents, trade marks, and designs. She played a leading role in shaping the UK鈥檚 approach to IP during Brexit.

Prior to her current role, Natasha led the IPO鈥檚 major transformation programme, delivering new digital services and driving cultural and organisational change. Her leadership helped position the IPO as a modern, customer-focused organisation.

Natasha has also held roles in the predecessor to the Department of Business and Trade, and the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO), including as secondee to Denmark on economic policy.

Director of Enforcement, Business and International Directorate

This role is responsible for the IPO鈥檚 international activities, supporting the UK鈥檚 trade ambitions, developing IP skills in business, research institutions, education and wider government, and ensuring effective interaction between the IP system and other regulatory frameworks.

This includes responsibility for the聽IPO鈥檚 relationships with multilateral institutions such as聽WIPO, and the office鈥檚 bilateral relationships and cooperation with key global markets.聽 皇冠体育app UK鈥檚 IP attach茅 network is a key part of this work, providing support and raising awareness for UK businesses who are exporting or are looking to export.

皇冠体育app Directorate also leads on IP enforcement issues. This includes establishing a national centre of excellence for IP intelligence, working in partnership with law enforcement agencies and taking a central coordination role to tackle IP crime in the UK and internationally.
