Nadia Hashmi

Biography

Nadia Hashmi is the Deputy Permanent Representative to the Council of Europe.

Nadia joined the Diplomatic Service in 2007 and has worked in Kuala Lumpur, Ankara, Paris and Abu Dhabi. Prior to that, in Brussels, she wrote the European Commission鈥檚 Counter-Terrorism and Radicalisation policy and worked on human rights at the European Parliament.

After studying at the London School of Economics Nadia gained her PhD from the European University Institute in Florence on post-colonial immigration and identity in France and Britain. She was a Fulbright researcher at New York University and a Colstons Fellow at Bristol. She has taught and published about gender, religion and education, and written about travel, food and languages.
