Mary-Kate Thomson
Biography
Mary-Kate Thomson became the Deputy Head of Mission at the British Embassy Yangon in February 2023.
Before taking up her role in Yangon Mary-Kate was the UK鈥檚 Attach茅 to Northern Ghana. Mary-Kate joined the FCO (now FCDO) in 2013 and has covered a range of foreign policy, development, and security roles. She has represented the UK Government in Afghanistan, Pakistan, Somalia, and Ghana. Mary-Kate is global Co-chair of the FCDO Women鈥檚 Network.
Mary-Kate holds a Masters in Ancient history and archaeology from Oxford University, and postgraduate qualifications in international development and international relations from the University of London and Duke University, North Carolina.
Mary-Kate is married with two children.
