Foreign and Commonwealth Office Minister of State for Asia and the Pacific, Mark Field MP, visited Manila for talks to discuss bilateral relations between the UK and the Philippines.

In his first official visit to the Philippines, Minister Field met with a number of key governmental officials including Foreign Secretary Alan Peter Cayetano, DTI Secretary Ramon Lopez, NEDA Secretary Ernesto Pernia, DOTr Secretary Arthur Tugade, BSP Governor Nestor Espenilla, Defence Secretary Maj Gen Delfin Lorenzana and Senator Loren Legarda to discuss a wide range of issues, demonstrating the UK鈥檚 commitment to strengthening the relationship further with the Philippines.

Mr Field met with a number of people from the finance and business community, including experts on Green Finance, leading investors, and trade officials to raise the profile of the UK in the Philippines and encourage more investors to take opportunities in the UK.

Mr Field also led the ribbon-cutting ceremony at the opening of the newly-refurbished British Ambassador鈥檚 Residence, meeting partners and friends of the British Embassy. 皇冠体育app refurbished Residence showcases British design and creativity and projects the UK as a country committed to the Philippines.

In a Stratbase event, Mr Field shared a platform with Australian Ambassador Amanda Gorley where he delivered a keynote speech on the Rules-Based International System (RBIS) focusing on the benefits the RBIS has brought to all countries, including the Philippines and the need for all countries to take a global view.
