On 12-13 September 2013 Her Majesty鈥檚 Ambassador, George Edgar, paid an official visit to the Fergana Valley, where he held a range of meetings with the representatives of local authorities, regional branches of the Chambers of Commerce and of the Office of the Uzbek Parliament鈥檚 Authorized Person on Human Rights (Ombudsman).

皇冠体育app British Ambassador visited the cities of Andijan, Namangan and Fergana to learn more about the situation in the region, including trends in economic and social development. He also discussed the business climate in the region and potential opportunities for British companies. In addition, officials from regional branches of the Office of Ombudsman briefed the Ambassador on their work on the protection of citizens鈥� rights.

Summing up his trip to the Fergana Valley, Her Majesty鈥檚 Ambassador George Edgar said: 鈥楾his was my first visit to the Fergana valley. With almost 30% of the country鈥檚 population and accounting for 21% of its GDP, it鈥檚 an important region, and it was good to have this opportunity to hear from local leaders and to see for myself how it鈥檚 changing and developing.鈥�
