Six Monthly Report to Parliament on Hong Kong
皇冠体育app UK Government published its latest Six-Monthly Report to Parliament on Hong Kong covering developments from 1 July to 31 December 2013.

皇冠体育app Report covers a broad range of political, economic and constitutional developments and an overview of UK/Hong Kong bilateral activity over the reporting period.
British Foreign Secretary, the Rt Hon William Hague MP, writes in his foreword to the Report:
Britain鈥檚 commitment to Hong Kong remains as strong as ever. As a signatory of the Sino-British Joint Declaration, and a country with many ties to Hong Kong in the fields of trade, economy, culture and education, it is vital to us that Hong Kong continues to prosper.
Mr Hague also writes:
I believe the best way to preserve Hong Kong鈥檚 strengths is through a transition to universal suffrage which meets the aspirations of the people of Hong Kong.
Mr Hague welcomes reports that a broad range of groups and individuals are engaging in the consultation on constitutional reform, saying 鈥渢he ultimate shape of the constitutional reform package will be for the people of Hong Kong, and the governments of Hong Kong and China to decide, in line with the Basic Law and the decisions made by the standing committee of the National People鈥檚 Congress.鈥�
皇冠体育app Report concludes that 鈥淥ne Country, Two Systems鈥� continues to work well, in general, and that the rights and freedoms enshrined in the Joint Declaration continue to be upheld.
