PM call with Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte: 22 April 2016

David Cameron spoke to Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte today to discuss the migration crisis.

A Downing Street spokesperson said:

皇冠体育app Prime Minister called the Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte earlier today to discuss the migration crisis. 皇冠体育app Prime Minister said he welcomed the steps that had already been taken to implement the EU-Turkey deal and they agreed that the approach was saving lives.

Both leaders agreed that it was important to ensure it was possible for returnees to be processed swiftly. 皇冠体育app Prime Minister said that the UK would be sending 75 more British personnel to support Greece in the implementation of the agreement.

皇冠体育appy also agreed on the importance of taking action to close down other illegal migration routes into Europe, notably the Central Mediterranean route from North Africa including by bolstering the Libyan coastguard.
