India-UK Createch Summit produces 拢58 million in commercial deals

皇冠体育app was opened by Baroness Rona Fairhead CBE, Minister of State for the UK鈥檚 Department for International Trade (DIT), and attended by HRH 皇冠体育app Prince Edward, Earl of Wessex KG GCVO.
It convened around 1,000 delegates from the film, advertising, healthcare, industrial design, music, gaming and immersive technology sectors.
皇冠体育app focus was on exploring how createch is disrupting industries around the world and to showcase some of the companies leading the development of these technologies globally.
This summit takes place at an exciting time and explored how the technology and creative industries are converging to produce a new wave of innovation which is leading to the development of new products and businesses.

More than 60 UK companies have travelled to India during this month-long celebration of Createch and met hundreds of Indian companies. As one of the UK鈥檚 economic success stories, the creative industries contributed 拢92 billion to our economy in 2016 and employed over 1.9 million people.
I would like to thank Indian heads of business for their warm welcome on this visit. I believe the discussions held at the summit demonstrate our commitments to continuing to forge creative, new technology-led partnerships between the UK and India. Keynote sessions and workshops at India-UK Createch Summit
Attendees had the opportunity to hear keynotes from senior figures from some of the world鈥檚 most innovative companies and organisations.
Professor Dr Ralf Speth, CEO, Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) opened the session 鈥楥reatech in Business鈥�. He spoke about the impact of Createch on JLR and the opportunities it offers for the future of transport.
Jeremy White, Transport Director, Seymour Powell, explored how human-centred design can allow businesses to think ahead.
Mike McGee, co-founder and CCO of Oscar-winning creative studio, Framestore, discussed how revolutionary technology in film and advertising has brought to life characters like Paddington Bear and sent children on a virtual school trip to Mars.
Other sessions led by the likes of Sir Malcolm Grant, Chairman, National Healthcare Service (NHS) England, and Guy Murphy, Chief Strategy Officer, J. Walter Thompson, addressed how technology can help brands build value in the 21st century.

It gave an unprecedented platform to Indian and UK businesses and thought leaders to interact across a diverse range of sectors.

UK trade missions to India in 鈥楥reatech鈥� month
As part of a wider month of interaction between the UK and India, Createch month has seen the visit of 7 UK trade missions covering the food and drink, healthcare, gaming, music, film, automotive and football sectors in India.

Commercial deals at India-UK Createch Summit
Several commercial deals have been forged with like-minded Indian companies sharing an appetite for partnership and commercial deals worth 拢58 million were announced at the India-UK Createch Summit.
Film and entertainment
Leading creative studio Framestore is set to join forces with top Indian vfx player, Anibrain. This will further both their ambitions in CG based storytelling across all screen formats - feature film, television, animation, advertising, themed entertainment, experiential as well as virtual and mixed reality.
皇冠体育app Producers Guild of India will sign a highly significant memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the UK鈥檚 Producers Alliance for Cinema and Television (PACT). This outlines a more formal collaborative relationship between the UK and the Indian production sector spanning the film, television and digital content industries.
As part of the MoU, the Producers Guild of India will join the Global Creative Alliance and will become the Indian partner. 皇冠体育app alliance is part of an online platform where companies can find or post projects where they are seeking a co-production partner.
Last year India was one of the top export markets for the UK TV sector seeing a 40% growth.
Healthcare
Vernacare鈥檚 partnerships continue to expand in India. 皇冠体育appir latest deal sees them signing a contract with a value of over 拢1 million for the next 5 years with Manipal Hospital in Dwarka for human waste management system related products.
Manipal Healthcare is the first hospital group in India to introduce Vernacare鈥檚 environmentally friendly single-use infection prevention system, which reduces the risk of cross infection when toileting and washing patients.
Most recently, the Vernacare system has been welcomed by the first Manipal Healthcare hospital in the north of India in Dwarka, Delhi.
Technology
In a deal worth over 拢1 million, Tengio UK has signed a 5 year deal with one of the largest and most progressive cooperative banks in India to be their exclusive 鈥榝uture tech鈥� partner. Tengio specialises in immersive solutions using virtual and augmented reality, computer vision, connected devices, cloud services, machine learning and mobile application development.
Showing their ongoing commitment to Bengaluru, UK fashion technology start-up Metail will invest 拢1.2 million over the next 3 to 5 years into outsource operations in the region to support its growth with retail partners in India and globally.
Metail uses computer vision, AI and data science to help retailers and manufacturers create higher quality digital garment imagery that helps their customers to see clothes on their virtual selves.

Retail
Master franchisor Tommy Miah, owner of 鈥楾ommy Miah鈥檚 Fried Chicken鈥� (TMFC) franchise, has signed an exclusive master franchise contract with 鈥楬ungry Humpty鈥�, a Kolkata-based company, to manage franchising activities for all of India from 2018.

Interflora, one of the world鈥檚 largest and most experienced flower delivery service, has announced the launch of its exclusive website for India - Interflora.in 鈥� in partnership with online gifting portal IGP.com in a deal worth 拢22 million over the next 5 years.

New Manchester India Partnership

MIP is a public/private initiative and designed to build closer ties between Manchester with India encompassing the full scope of country-to-city interaction including trade, investment, science and innovation, connectivity and culture. MIP provides uniquely provide a clear route for engagement with a strategically-vital market.
皇冠体育app formation of the MIP reflects the strong investment into the region from knowledge-led Indian firms such as HCL, Hero Cycles and 42Gears, and partnerships by Universities of Salford and Bolton with Bangalore and the State of Karnataka. It seeks to build on the increasing attractiveness of Manchester for Indian researchers, students and tourists.
A major target for the MIP will be to encourage direct air routes to further broaden the existing economic and cultural links, with Manchester Airport already the sixth largest European air gateway into India.
