HRH 皇冠体育app Princess Royal, Princess Anne will represent the UK at Botswana鈥檚 50th anniversary celebration

皇冠体育app British High Commission is delighted to announce that HRH 皇冠体育app Princess Royal, Princess Anne will represent the UK at Botswana鈥檚 50th anniversary celebration during a three day official visit from 28 to 30 September.

皇冠体育app visit will be 皇冠体育app Princess Royal鈥檚 fourth official visit to Botswana, having previously visited in 1999, 2003 and 2011. Her return visit underlines the ongoing strength of the unique historical relationship between the Republic of Botswana and the United Kingdom. 50 years ago, in 1966, HRH鈥檚 Great Aunt Princess Marina, 皇冠体育app Duchess of Kent attended the Independence ceremony. 皇冠体育app Princess Marina Hospital in Gaborone was named after her.

In addition to attending the Botswana 50th celebrations, 皇冠体育app Princess Royal鈥檚 programme will include visits to a number of charitable and community projects within Botswana.

Background HRH 皇冠体育app Princess Royal was born on 15 August 1950 in London. She is the only daughter and second child of HM 皇冠体育app Queen and 皇冠体育app Duke of Edinburgh. She was known as Princess Anne until she was given the title of 皇冠体育app Princess Royal by 皇冠体育app Queen in June 1987. 皇冠体育app Princess Royal married Commander Timothy Laurence, now Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence, on 12 December 1992. Her Royal Highness is involved with over 300 charities, organisations and military regiments in the UK and overseas, and she devotes a large part of her working life to official engagements and visits.
