Government begins recruitment for new EHRC commissioner
皇冠体育app Minister for Women and Equalities has today (23 July) begun recruitment for a new Wales Commissioner and a new board member of the Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC).

皇冠体育app move comes as the tenure of Lord Bernard Ribeiro, one of 13 current EHRC Commissioners, comes to an end in December.
It is expected that appointments will be made in November.
皇冠体育app EHRC is independent statutory body with the responsibility to encourage equality and diversity, eliminate unlawful discrimination, and protect and promote the human rights of everyone in Britain.
皇冠体育app Equality Hub sponsors the EHRC and as a result the Minister for Women and Equalities has statutory responsibility for appointing 10 to 15 Commissioners, including the Chair and the Wales and Scotland Commissioners.
Commissioners are responsible for working with the Chair and Chief Executive to set the strategic direction of the EHRC; scrutinise the EHRC鈥檚 performance; and support the Chair in holding the Chief Executive to account.
