»Ê¹ÚÌåÓýapp Department responds to an article in the Telegraph suggesting that new planning laws could lead to tens of thousands of “uninhabitable and unsellableâ€ homes being built on floodplains.

A spokesperson said:

This suggestion is completely untrue and has no factual basis. We are maintaining the requirement for a strategic flood risk assessment to inform local plans, and keeping the need for individual planning applications in flood risk areas to be supported by a site-specific flood risk assessment. Planning protection against flooding is being kept.
