Contract to build new Defence Infrastructure Organisation offices has been awarded to Kier.
皇冠体育app 拢10.7-million contract to build the Defence Infrastructure Organisation鈥檚 (DIO) new headquarters building has been awarded to Kier.
顿滨翱鈥檚 new building will be based on the site at Defence Medical Services (DMS) Whittington in Lichfield, Staffordshire.
皇冠体育app new headquarters will include an atrium which will provide an informal meeting space for employees. It will be constructed using a modular method with modules being constructed off site and transported to the building site for installation.
DIO will vacate their current site in Sutton Coldfield by Spring 2021. 皇冠体育app site will be disposed of which will save money overall while supporting the MOD鈥檚 contribution to meeting the Government鈥檚 housing targets.
Staff will be moving to a purpose-built building on an existing, local military site demonstrating 顿滨翱鈥檚 commitment to reducing the size of the defence estate.
Demolition works have taken place at DMS Whittington to clear the site ready for construction. Works are expected to start in Spring 2020.

顿滨翱鈥檚 new headquarters at DMS Whittington will ensure that staff will be able to enjoy many of the facilities that a large, modern, operational military base offers. Co-locating on an operational defence site will also bring DIO staff closer to our customers and allow us to experience the Defence estate in use every day.
We are working closely with staff currently based at Sutton Coldfield to support them with the transition and with trade unions to undertake the necessary consultation.
