British and Uzbek academia discuss quality in higher education
On 18 November Tashkent hosted the International Round Table Enhancing the Quality Culture in Higher Education.
Tashkent hosted the International Round Table Enhancing the Quality Culture in Higher Education organized on 18 November by the British Council and the Ministry of Higher and Secondary Specialized Education of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
Distinguished guests and participants included the Minister of Higher and Secondary Specialized Education of the Republic of Uzbekistan Bahodir Khodiev, the British Council Regional Director Michael Bird, Vice-chancellor of London Metropolitan University Malcolm Gillies, as well as rectors and deputy rectors of universities in Uzbekistan.
Participants of the Round Table aimed to determine the main directions and steps which need to be taken to increase the quality culture in the system of higher education of Uzbekistan. Participants heard about international experience in this regard from London Metropolitan University Professors.
鈥淚n Uzbekistan the British Council is viewed as the natural partner in working with the Government of Uzbekistan in the sphere of Higher Education鈥�, Alison Beckett, Deputy Head of Mission British Embassy Tashkent, said in her opening speech welcoming the participants of the Round Table.
Last year British Embassy Tashkent in conjunction with the British Council and the University of Bath organized a 5 day Master Class course for students at the Banking and Finance Academy of Uzbekistan, followed last week by another series of lectures and seminars by a Professor from a British University at the Academy of Public Administration under the President of Uzbekistan.
