On 28 November, as part of the British Embassy-funded project aimed at supporting the implementation of Turkmenistan鈥檚 National Human Rights Action Plan 2016-2020, the Embassy and UNDP organised an intellectual contest among the students of Turkmenistan鈥檚 three leading universities, namely the Turkmen State University, the Institute of International Relations under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and the International University of Humanities and Development.
皇冠体育app event, which was formally endorsed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, was held within the framework of the national campaign dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR). It was organised to increase human rights knowledge and awareness of the values enshrined in the UDHR among the students and their professors.

Key to success of the competition was dexterity, speed, deep knowledge of international and national law, international conventions, declarations and covenants on human rights. As a result of an exciting competition, the students of the Institute of International Relations won! 皇冠体育app future diplomats were able to distinguish themselves not only with their good knowledge, but also with brilliant acumen.

At the end of competition Her Majesty鈥檚 Ambassador to Turkmenistan Miss Thorda Abbott-Watt sincerely congratulated the winners and advised them to practice the invaluable human rights knowledge they gained in real life. 皇冠体育app Ambassador then awarded the winners with certificates and prizes.
Similar 鈥淏rain Rings鈥� were also conducted among university students in Mary and Turkmenabad as part of the project.
