Bathing water quality improvement plans - John Penrose responds

, today welcomed Environment Agency news that 98 per cent of UK bathing waters passed mandatory EU water quality checks last year, and .

MrĀ Penrose said: ā€œTourism is a fantastically important part of the UK’s economy and will play a key role in our recovery.Ā An important part of our tourist offer is, of course, seaside holidays.Ā 

ā€œFor millions of us, they are not just a wonderful holiday destination but a very real part of our cultural heritage.Ā 

ā€œSo I’m delighted that the importance of this is fully recognised in the forward investment plans that the water industry has agreed with the Environment Agency.ā€�
