We received 25 responses to this consultation.
We will be making small technical amendments to the:
- Food (Lot Marking) Regulations 1996
- Spreadable Fats (Marketing Standards) and Milk and Milk Products (Protection of Designations) (England) Regulations 2008
- Food Information Regulations 2014
- Country of Origin of Certain Meats (England) Regulations 2015
- Caseins and Caseinates (England) Regulations 2017
We will be rolling over recognition of EU Natural Mineral Waters for 6 months. After this, a decision for continuation or a notice period for removal will be decided by Secretary of State.
We will be amending the Honey (England) Regulations 2015 to include an option of labelling as 鈥榓 blend of honey from more than one country鈥� or similar wording.

皇冠体育app government has carefully considered the responses to the consultation and is liaising with organisations consulting in the same areas. We expect to publish a summary of responses and Defra鈥檚 response in March 2019.

Consultation description
We want to know what you think about our plans to update laws in England for food, including natural mineral water and honey labelling. 皇冠体育appse will make sure that current provisions in law can continue to work after the UK has left the EU. 皇冠体育app amendments would apply in the event that the EU and the UK were not able to agree a partnership arrangement and common approach to food legislation. 皇冠体育app proposals include:
- recognition of Natural Mineral Water
- changes to honey labelling
- changing references from EU member states and institutions to their UK equivalents
We will be consulting on UK wide food labelling later in the year.
