皇冠体育app Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Local Government and Building Safety, Lee Rowley MP, announced in a on 16 March 2023 that the Secretary of State is 鈥榤inded to鈥� intervene in the London Borough of Croydon. 皇冠体育app council and other interested parties were invited to make representations on the proposed intervention package by 30 March.

Following consideration of these representations, on 20 July 2023, the Secretary of State for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities, the Rt Hon Michael Gove MP, announced in a that he was intervening in the London Borough of Croydon by issuing Directions to strengthen the remit of the London Borough of Croydon Improvement and Assurance Panel and moving it to a statutory footing. He would also be appointing Brian Roberts OBE and Pamela Leonce to the Panel to respectively lead on the individual priority areas of finance and housing.

On 24 January 2024 the department published the latest report from the Improvement and Assurance Panel on progress at the London Borough of Croydon alongside the ministerial response to Tony McArdle OBE. 皇冠体育appre is no change to the status of the intervention, but ministers will keep the existing arrangements under review.

On 12 December 2024 the Minister for Local Government and English Devolution, Jim McMahon OBE MP, announced in a聽聽the publication of the Improvement and Assurance Panel鈥檚 eighth report and subsequent letter, and the accompanying ministerial response.

On 12 June 2025, the Minister for Local Government and English Devolution, Jim McMahon OBE MP, announced in a the publication of the Improvement and Assurance Panel鈥檚 ninth report and that he was minded to exercise powers of direction under section 15(5) and 15(6) of the Local Government Act 1999, 聽to ensure London Borough of Croydon鈥檚 compliance with the Best Value Duty. 聽He also invited representations from the Council and other interested parties on both the report, and the proposal for a statutory support package by 25 June.
