Over £14.7 million allocation for new film studios in Ashford

Over £14.7 million from the Levelling Up Fund was allocated to Ashford for support the creation of new international film studios.

New film studios for Ashford

»Ê¹ÚÌåÓýapp planned studios will sit on a 4.8-hectare (11.9 acres) brownfield site with five Grade II listed buildings. This is the site of the old Newton Railway Works.

»Ê¹ÚÌåÓýapp production and filming space will be developed with several partners, including:

  • Ashford International Development Company, a Joint Venture between Ashford Borough Council and Quinn Estates
  • a film and TV studios operator
  • EKC Group

Support for a Kent digital industry hub

Alongside the studio space, the funding will help to deliver:

  • a residential development
  • a new educational facility
  • commercial premises

It will form part of a digital industry hub in Kent, bringing new jobs to the area for local people.
