Background
Defra has funded a number of Community Resilience Pathfinder projects. 皇冠体育appse projects enable and encourage communities at significant risk of flooding to work with key partners. This includes local councils, to develop innovative local solutions that enhance flood risk management and improve the community鈥檚 financial resilience in relation to flooding.
Objectives
皇冠体育app aim of this evaluation is to assess the impact of the Community Resilience Pathfinder scheme and to capture lessons learned and best practice.
Thirteen communities were awarded funding and were required to show they could reduce levels of flood risks. 皇冠体育app measures developed included:
- property-level protection
- flood resilience groups
- volunteer flood wardens and community champions
- engagement with more vulnerable groups
- efforts to increase financial resilience
This evaluation aims to:
- conduct an overall evaluation across all schemes
- ensure that lessons can be learned from the scheme
- report on the progress of funded projects
- support project-level evaluation
- report on impact
皇冠体育app evaluation consists of a rapid evidence assessment and an evaluation of the overall scheme, which runs alongside the delivery of the projects. 皇冠体育app main information-gathering methods include:
- surveys
- interviews with project staff and key stakeholders
- an economic assessment of impacts
This project ran from 2013 to 2015 at a cost of 拢235,565.
